MPCT Financial Support

If you are aged 16-18 and in full or part-time training you could be entitled to financial support to help pay for essential education-related costs such as course equipment, kit, lunch or transport to and from college.

You could get a bursary of up to £1,200 per year. For more information on the Bursary Fund, Click here You may be entitled to receive up to £40.00 per week for up to 30 weeks.

MPCT students can apply for financial support whilst in learning through 3 routes: 

  • 16-19 Vulnerable Bursary Fund 

  • 16-19 Discretionary Bursary Fund 

  • Free Meals

What are they? 

 

16 - 19 Vulnerable Bursary Fund and Discretionary Bursary Fund 

​

The 16-19 Bursary Fund is provided by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) is provided to institutions to ensure that they may provide financial help to students whose access to or completion of education might be inhibited by financial consideration. 

​

Students wishing to claim from the 16 – 19 Bursary Fund will fall into two categories. It is extremely important that you decide at this stage which of the two categories are likely to apply to you.

Free Meals 

 

Free meals will be made available for all eligible students whilst in learning at MPCT. This will be done in the form of a weekly payment for the days attended to those eligible for £2.41 per day.

Do I qualify? 

​

Students may be eligible for if they or their parents are in receipt of one of the following benefits: 

  • Income Support 

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance 

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) 

  • Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) provided annual income assessed by the Inland Revenue does not exceed £16,190 (please note: This amount is subject to change in April every year) 

  •  Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit 

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 

  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for working tax credit

How do I apply? 

​

Students with the help of parents/carers should complete the Financial Support Application Form (FS1) in the Forms to complete pack received from MPCT, and return with the supplementary evidence to their College with the student. 

​

This will be processed by the finance department at Head Office within 2 weeks of the application being received at Head Office. 

​

How will I receive the money? 

​

Students will receive the funding into their designated bank account the Friday following submissions by their instructor at their College. 

​

​

Yes, you can send an appeal to finance@mpct.co.uk with reference to any queries over you application.
